Knowing this, we've decided to feature a different local bartender each week and share who they are with you.

How long have you worked at MJ’s Jazz and Tapas Lounge?
Since it opened 4 months ago, but I have been bartending since I was in college.

 

Where else have you bartended?
In Iowa City.

 

What is the most requested drink?
Blue Berry Martini.

 

What is your favorite drink to drink?
Stoli-Water and Lime.

 

What’s your biggest pet peeve with bar-goers?
I don’t like to be handed a business card.

 

What do you like most about bartending?
Being able to talk to people and getting them drunk.

 

Do you know any bar tricks?
Yeah...without touching the plate get all the water from the plate to the glass cup using the lemon, matches, and cup. (See this pic)

 

Has anyone ever asked you for a martini ‘shaken not stirred?’
No

 

Have you seen Coyote Ugly?
Yes

 

What’s the craziest experience you’ve had while working?
Two guys came in to my bar on stilts.

 

What do you like to do when you’re not bartending?
Go to the beach, boating, working out and reading

 

What do you want to do in the future?
Maybe something with kids, I love other people's kids.

 

If you could tell customers anything you wanted, what would it be?
I don’t censor myself.
