Ever wonder who that face behind the music is? We did to. That's why we've set out to uncover the mystery of the Disc Jockey's that you dance to nightly. This week we've caught:

DJ Tony Puccio
From: Tampa, FL

What is the significance of your name?

It’s my real name.

How did you get it?

From my parents. I was named after great uncles on both sides.

What kind of music do you like to play the most?

House Music in its various forms.

What made you interested in DJ-ing?

Going to clubs and seeing large crowds of people moved by electronic music.

How long have you been a DJ?

10 years.

Where are your favorite venues to spin at?

Any packed venue with a good sound system!

Outside of work, do you ever go out to clubs?

Yes, I think it’s important to stay in touch with what’s going on in the scene, and I still like to hear a good DJ.

Do you take music requests?

When it’s appropriate, depends on the party, If I’m headlining a major gig the answer is no.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen while you were working?

I haven’t really seen anything too crazy. Once I was headlining an outside event in South America and when I turned around to get a cd I saw uniformed men on the stage with M-16s and pistols telling the promoter to shut it down. Another time I was in Miami spinning on the Nocturnal Terrace and a beautiful long legged girl decided to change her outfit in the Dj Booth. I’ve also seen people trying to engage in sex acts.

What’s been your biggest gig so far?

For me so far has been BLISS in Orlando April 18, 2009. It was only 800 people but the vibe was incredible! The people were there for the sole purpose of hearing great music. Everybody was on the same wave length and I was able to move through a lot of different genres, I played Tribal/Techno/TechHouse/Minimal/Electro……good times!!

When you are up there, do you have a playlist or do you read the crowd?

I read the crowd, that’s as essential as beat matching.

Best DJ experience?

Anytime somebody says to me: “I love your music!!!”

Do you prefer playing at clubs or bigger events?

Both are good.

With so much music now a days have you gone to Serato or do you still carry the old fashion milk crates?

I use CDs and CDJs.

What DJs do you look up to?

Guys like Harry Choo Choo Romero who hasn’t let the fame and fortune go to his head, he’s very down to earth and loves his family….that is something to look up to.

What’s that 1 song that you can play that will make everyone dance?

No entiendo la pregunta…jajajajajajaja!!!! Everything that I play is designed to move the crowd.

If there is one song that describes you, which one would it be?

There isn’t one.

Are you associated with or are you part of any groups in the music industry?

I have a lot of friends in this industry and have worked with most of them; however I am not officially part of any Record Label or “DJ Collective”. There’s a bit of a misconception out there that if you do a remix for a major Record Label like Toolroom or Defected that you are “part” of that label, that’s not the case, you only worked on or remixed that particular project unless the label says otherwise.  I find that Labels don’t sign artists to a long term deals like back in the old days, it’s more or less done on a project by project basis without an advance, and they pay you based on sales. That being said, a lot of people do associate me with Juicy Music because I have remixed several tracks for them the biggest one being Panic Attack. That remix had Robbie Rivera’s full support and went high on the Beatport chart.

Would you or do you work with any radio station in the Tampa Bay area?

I have played at 88.5fm and I do plan on going back sometime soon. I have also done an interview in the studio and one over the phone with an internet radio station based in Miami called WEPA.FM……..I only have good things to say about both places.

What are your future plans?

I plan on starting my own label and rocking the planet!!!

Where can we find you?

Beatport, I Tunes, Myspace, Facebook, Yoko’s

What is your website or Myspace?
