Ever wonder who that face behind the music is? We did to. That's why we've set out to uncover the mystery of the Disc Jockey's that you dance to nightly. This week we've caught:

DJ Prophet
From: Trinidad

What is the significance of your name?

A Prophet is considered to be a Messenger of God and I consider myself to be a Messenger of Music.

How did you get it?

Growing up at Church, Pastors and Preachers, including my Mother who is a very Spiritual person, always told me I was called to be a Prophet.

What kind of music do you like to play the most?

Hip hop, Reggae, Soca.

What made you interesting in DJ-ing?
Music has always been a big part of my life as far as I can remember. Dj'n is a way to express that..

How long have you been a DJ?

For over 7 years

Where are your favorite venues to spin at?

Club Prana's Skybar every Friday!

Outside of work, do you ever go out to clubs?

Very seldom would you catch me in a club if I’m not working. DJing is like an addiction and being in that environment without spinning messes with my head.

Do you take music requests?

Depends on the venue and the request but not something I like to do..

What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen while you were working?

Over a thousand people responding to my every command.

What’s been your biggest gig so far?

Celebrity Super Bowl Party XLIII in Channelside, Tampa.

When you are up there, do you have a playlist or do you read the crowd?

A true SELECTOR plays and pleases his crowd at all ends.

Best DJ experience?

Too many to name, but every time I play is a Blessing.

Do you prefer playing at clubs or bigger events?

I feel at home in the club but don’t mind bigger events when the opportunity arises.

With so much music now a days have you gone to Serato or do you still carry the old fashion milk crates?

I’ve spent years toting crates of records and it wasn’t fun. I’ve been through the growing pains and hardships of being a Vinyl DJ and as technology changed so did I. Serato was the greatest invention to mankind.

What DJs do you look up to?

Kid Capri, Red Alert, Funkmaster Flex, DJ Khaled, King Addies, Stone Love, Killamanjaro .. Just to name a few.

What’s the one song that you can also play that will make everyone dance?

Be Faithful (Fatman Scoop Break)

If there is one song that describes you, which one would it be?

Tupac- Me Against the World

Are you associated with or are you part of any groups in the music industry?

Slip N’ Slide DJs, Insurgent Sound (Owner and Founder).

Would you or do you work with any radio station in the Tampa Bay area?

I have worked with Wild 98.7 in the past on their Sunday evening Wild Reggae Spins show and plan on being a part of their team very soon.

What are your future plans?

Work with radio, Get signed to a major label, Put out Official Cds & Mixtapes under the label, Go on International Tours.
