Owned by a vivacious and always entertaining family from Poland headed by a mother-daughter team (each named Ania), The Uptown Bar, caters to a very artsy crowd. The tiny venue/bar serves up live music on almost a nightly basis while satiating their patron's thirst for culture. Not only does the bar serve beer from all different parts of the world, they're known for their art shows, which feature predominantly local artists.
Located across the street from the State Theater on Central Avenue's 600-block in what has come to be known as music-row, The Uptown is the perfect place to go after a night at State or Jannus Landing. Eclectic local bands playing everything from punk to techno grace the stage often, and sometimes the venue books larger acts from out of town. Regardless of what's going on--be it an art show or a concert--The Uptown is the place to be for the artistically inclined beer aficionado.
