This was one of the first beach bars my big brother took me to on my visit to Florida. We enjoyed RumRunners, the view and the wonderful atmosphere the facility had to offer. I even think we carved our names somewhere together in order to leave our memories which would one day mean more to me than Id ever realize. Mike loved to walk his dogs on the beach, he loved the work he did for his fighters in his near by gym with our older brother Dan and I remember him calling me on his mobile during the sunset and letting me listen to the applause as the beautiful sun was setting onto the ocean. I looked for the Swigwam when I returned for my brother's services August 2009 but was unable to locate it unfortunately. I understand that it will be soon reopening as The Postcard or something to that affect. My best wishes to all the owners, employees and patrons as I look forward to returning and somehow paying tribute to my big brother in honor of his memory by drinking a few RumRunners and watching the sun go down again one day. Im hoping to soon make the area my home. Prayers to all who read this as I remember my big brother. Sincerely, Lisa and Vince

Well,if its summer and you in Saint Pete, and even during season, we are all drawn toward the mystical power of the sound of crashing waves, and the warth of the sun.
I was asked by a few dear friends of mine to go to swigwam and said well Iam tired maybe someother time. They said there may not be a some other time, so off we went,
once in the parking I could hear the music calling out like a long lost friend, the place was a little tiki bar on the beach,however like the windowto the world, the colloge kids, the retired people, the locals,contractors, the girls out for night on the town, the guys looking for the girls on girls night out, the dead heads with their t-shirts, because they had been to the concert,not because it was a store purchase as a new trend. this place is like Ginsburg, Jack Kerouac,Hunter S. Thompson and acid in a gold fish bowl, best people watching anywhere... A must and if you don't you are losing out. And if the Charcter of the place bothers you,most likely you should not be there any ways, the music is great and so are the people... a total must while in Saint Petersburg, Florida

very comfortable spot, locals are great, love the theme, fun spot, cheap draught, good ole boy and girl digs, lots to look at, no problems, git r done!

Don't tell anyone, but the Swig sets the standard by which all beach bars should be measured. But since there is no sign on the road, and no advertising, it's a well- kept secret amongst us locals. Damn, I just blew it!
