Known to many as The Mousetrap (as it was formally called), The Retreat has renovated to become a bigger and better bar on South HydePark avenue downtown. It has expanded into two separate parts—a bar section and a game section—giving more room to its increasing business.
 
The game room has everything from darts, pool tables, a punching bag, foosball, and even a relaxing couch area for when you are all gamed-out. Music can be selected by customers from a jukebox and popcorn made fresh from the machine near the bar. 

Some would say that The Retreat is like ‘Cheers,’ since the customers are largely comprised of everyday visitors and ‘everybody knows your name.’ There is a tight bond of people that come here, and if you have been, you’re likely to see someone you know. 

The Retreat’s claim-to-fame, as professed by the owners, is that it appears in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most draft beers ever sold. 

The name may be new, but the bar definitely is not; it’s been there since 1938 and there’s a reason for that.
