Since opening at the turn of the century (as the cousin of the successful Georgie's Alibi bar in the south Florida city of Wilton Manors), Georgie's Alibi has grown to become the largest gay bar in St. Petersburg. Part of its appeal is in that Georgie's is welcoming of all ages and crowds, who mingle on any given night.

Another key to its success is the steady list of specials, offered on both alcohol and food. Georgie's serves lunch and dinner, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., which mostly consists of affordably-priced American fare. By far, the most popular alcohol special is the Thursday night "tea party," in which Long Island iced teas are served in quart Mason jars for $3 apiece from 9 p.m. until last call. There are specials and theme nights offered every night of the week (please visit the website for more details), but the Thursday crowd is by far the most profitable for Georgie's Alibi.

Since Georgie's Alibi serves food, smoking is not allowed inside the building, but a patio bar has been installed outside for the smokers' convenience. Inside, there are three large bars, complete with a small dining area on an alcove overlooking the dance floor, where drag shows are also held on certain nights.
