Drinking games

Get your game face on because drinking games are a big part of the tailgating agenda.

Usually played with beer (not that Metromix condones this type of behavior), popular games include beer pong, flip cup, Edward 40-Hands and Power Hour. Don’t know how to play? Here is a briefing on two popular tailgating games played in teams:

Beer pong
Usually played with two people or two teams of two, this game requires use of a table, plastic party cups and a ping-pong ball.

Cups are set up at opposite sides of the table in a triangular shape similar to the set-up of bowling pinks, with at least six cups on each side. Pour even amounts of beer into each cup.

Taking turns, each team attempts to throw the ball in one of the other team’s cups.

When a ball is successfully thrown into the opposing team’s cup, a player on that team must drink the beer in it. A team has continuous turns until a shot is missed.

The winning team is the first to eliminate the opposing team’s cups. Once all cups on one side of the table are gone, the losing team must finish the winning team’s leftover cups as well.

Flip cup
Teams for flip cup can vary in size; however, both teams should be equal. Each team stands at opposite sides of the table; each person even with a member of the opposing team.

Each player has a plastic party cup filled about halfway with beer in front of them.

A relay of sorts, the opposite teams begin by two players facing one another chugging the beer, placing the empty cup on the table and attempting the flip the cup over.

Once flipped, the next player on the same team repeats and so on down the line. The first team that finishes both chugging and flipping the cups wins.

Each new game begins with the next pair down the line.

Remember: You must be 21 to play!
