This New York Based band is one of the newest 'it' bands to come out of NYC. Rolling Stone Magazine liked this quartet's sound so much it gave their self-titled debut album four stars. Their first single, "Rich Girls" rocketed up the charts of industry rags and was at one time Sprints' most downloaded song. The Virgins are some pretty chill guys and we got a chance to grill them on their rock star status thus far before they hit the road with The Black Kids.
OK, let's start off with the name. What's up with taking up "The Virgins" as your band name?
We wanted a name that was sexy and not pretentious. It's also a reference to our trips and new experiences shared together.
You guys just released your debut album a few months ago to some pretty good reviews. What's your reaction to the buzz?
Making the record was so much fun! I'm still trying to recover from that.
How would you describe your music for those who don't know?

The Virgins have been compared to The Strokes, who would you compare yourselves to?

Well, we all hope can't we? Tampa Bay has a fashion week coming up shortly. And while it's not as big as New York or Paris, we hope it will be a big hit. What was fashion week like in Paris?
Simply grand. I'd love to visit Tampa's fashion week. I would got to all the shows. Will there be bikinis?
What was it like to have your 3rd show ever an event like that? Playing with legends like Patti Smith and Sonic Youth nonetheless?
Oh Boy. We were nervous. The Olympia is a beautiful theatre that I think took care of us and kept her arm around our shoulders. We all had an unforgettable night.
Tell us what The Virgins do (or don't do) when you're on the road. And who has the strangest hobby?
We're always together. On the road or at home in New York. We're best friends. We hold hands.
Hmmm, interesting. What, if anything, would deflower The Virgins?
There's lots we haven't seen yet. Our outlook is: try everything twice.
Where will The Virgins be a year from now. Will you still be The Virgins?
