Bill & Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure
September 30, 2007
TC: Ah, the Bill & Ted show. Everybody’s favorite song-and-dance, mildly naughty mish-mash of pop culture seems to slip a little every year. Granted, the fodder is less meaty this time around. They already kicked around Britney and Paris last time, so we’re left with the Sex in the City gals as the resident skank-clowns. I know the plot is negligible in these things, but basing it around a team-up with Hellboy isn’t exactly mining too deep for comedy gold. And a Heath Ledger Joker appearance? Not so much too soon as too little.
PH: I’ve never been much of a fan of Bill & Ted’s shows, not because I’m a curmudgeonly non-laugher, but mostly because they often shoot too low and too easy for the amount of effort they obviously put into the presentation. If your idea of comedy is Harrison Ford driving a Rascal (haha, he’s old!), Miley Cyrus getting blowed up (haha, she’s annoying!), or Hillary Clinton getting drunk and flashing her bra (haha, she lost and is disgruntled!) then you’re headed for some solid laffs. Otherwise skip it, and save your time for the lines. Staring at the chain link fences is more entertaining anyway.
