Local youth swarm to this park on Holidays and weekends, because of its proximity to river, gulf, and other necessities like food and kayak rentals. Volleyball court (sand is full by noon, and the boat ramps are always busy with all kinds of locals, from fishermen to sport enthusiasts. Flat skiff types only, the serious gulf boats are put in at bayport or just up the way at Jenkin's Creek park.) Local bands can be heard on the weekends playing at The Upper Deck restaurant, on the opposite shore. Picnic facilities are less than at other parks, but the fresh water swimming is what most come here for.
