The Pier Aquarium occupies two floors of St. Petersburg's world-renowned Pier, with three gigantic tanks populated by fresh- and salt-water marine life of the world and Tampa Bay's local tidal zone - an estuary. Upstairs are 12 more aquariums, educational exhibits and the museum store. Get up close and personal with the Touch Tank experience and watch all the feeding times for many of the animals. Saturdays are "Fish-ful" with targeted programs designed to acquaint you with facts about water, marine mammels, sharks, and critters of the deep.
Special events, galas, and fundraising events happen throughout the year, and there is almost always opportunity to volunteer to help out with visitors, or fish. Ask about taking part in an internship or special study projects.
