“300” director Zack Snyder brings a long-awaited comic book adaptation to the screen with a cast (including Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Carla Gugino) better known for their talent than their box office muscle.

Buzz-meter ranking: 10. It’s difficult to tell how faithful Snyder will remain to the edgy source material, but his movies (regardless of how they turn out at feature length) sure make for freakin’ sweet trailers. The new dialogue-free footage expanded on the teaser that premiered with “The Dark Knight” and immediately went through the roof, just like scenes from “300” did two Comic-Cons ago. Plus, Batman (or at least a guy in a Batman suit) asked Snyder a question. Top that.
