The Science Center of Pinellas County features several ongoing exhibitions and interactive displays. The African American Scientists and Inventors Exhibit showcases contributions by African-Americans from slavery through present day. The Alligators exhibition teaches visitors how alligators live, while the Spirit of Columbia Theater and Planetarium, using a state-of-the-art system, takes you on a guided tour of space and the stars. The stars are easily viewed through the powerful 16-inch telescope located in the Carol Samuels Observatory and special events are held on select nights for star gazing. Among many other on-site exhibitions, the center also includes a recreation of a Sixteenth Century Native American Village, giving a taste of how early Native Americans lived in the Tampa Bay region.
