You can't miss Plant Hall's large minaret structures that define the downtown Tampa skyline. But there's more to this building than University of Tampa classrooms and beauty; a century of history lies within the walls of plant hall and can be explored through the Henry B. Plant Museum.
Built in the 1800s as a hotel on 150 acres of ground, the magnificant structure had a professional golf course, casino, hunting grounds, swimming pools, bowling allys, and more. Named after Henry Bradley Plant who was building railroads and hotels during the time, he financed the building personally to make the elegant hotel that many established hotel guests would stay in years later.
More than a century later, Plant Hall still stands tall. The surrounding area is no longer a fairgrounds, but rather the University of Tampa and classes are held inside the building. The museum is located on the bottom floor near the lobby with a museum store inside and also available online.
A yearly victorian Christmas stroll and other events take place at Plant hall, Plant Park, and the surrounding areas.
