Local Spotlight: One Night Rodeo

Through dozens of finalists and after a long round of finals to become Great American Country's next Star, One Night Rodeo won the most votes and stole the show. With their winnings comes a recording contract with Original Signal Records and a new music video. We caught  with this Bradenton band before their big win.

Mmx: When most people think of Country Music, Bradenton isn’t the first city that comes to mind. What made you guys want to start up a country band in the middle of Florida?

We all came from families with country roots. My dad is a country musician. Duane’s whole family was into country music. Mike’s family was into all kinds of music so everyone’s roots were somehow connected to country music.
 
Mmx: Nashville is a long way from Bradenton, are there any hangouts you miss back home?

We really haven’t been here long enough (to miss any  place in particular) but it is nice to be away from our hometown to break out of our comfort zone and do something different but we do miss our family and friends.

Mmx:  What are some of your favorite venues to play in the Tampa Bay area?  

Number one is joyland they’ve been good to us for years. They’ve also been supportive of this Next GAC Star venture.

Mike- we also like Gunslingers and The Dallas Bull
 
Mmx: If you were required to play punk versions of your sets, name five songs you’d be excited to hear. 

You know it’d just be fun to do anything as a punk version whether it  “Without You” or “save a Horse Ride A Cowboy.” 
 
Mmx: Win or lose, after GAC, what’s next for One Night Rodeo? New cd? Tour? 

Hopefully we’ll win but if not we’ll keep writing our original music and keep plugging away and use this as a stepping stone.
