'Frosty the Snowman'
The best: Man or Astroman? (from "Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus")
On punk/indie label Sympathy for the Record Industry’s ironically titled “Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus” collection, surf rockers Man or Astroman? inject a shot of “Tequila” into one of holiday music’s most overplayed melodies and pull off a Christmas miracle, making “Frosty” not only tolerable but actually sort of fun.
The worst: Michael Keaton and the Jack Frost Band (from the "Jack Frost" original soundtrack album)
In the 1998 film “Jack Frost,” Keaton played a musician who gets killed in a car crash and comes back to life as a snowman—which actually sounds like a pretty good career move for any musician terrible enough to record this tuneless, faux-bluesy version of “Frosty the Snowman.”
Also performed by: Gene Autry, the Beach Boys, Bing Crosby, Toby Keith, the Brady Bunch, Charlie Daniels, Cocteau Twins, Fiona Apple, Harry Connick, Jr., Fats Domino, the Jackson 5, Willie Nelson.
