We know her as the cute, young (and, yes, sometimes admittedly ditzy) voice of the the MJ Morning Show, often taking the brunt of her co-hosts jokes on-air. But, she's also claimed the role of juicy celeb gossiper, made national news for her bikini-clad prank standing near Tiger Woods' home during the height of his marital infidelities, and even helped Metromix with the difficult task of judging our 2009 bikini contest. Recently, she took the number three spot for the hottest women in radio (popcrunch.com), making us realize that we don't know enough about Meredith Walusek as we'd like to. And, in true Metromix style, we tracked her down to find out more.
Where are you originally from?
I traveled around so much when I was a kid that's a hard question to answer... but, the longest place I've ever lived growing up was in St. Augustine, Florida.
How long have you been in Tampa and at 93.3 FLZ?
After I graduated from The University of North Florida, 93.3 FLZ hired me right out of college. I've lived and worked here for over three years now. Time flies when you're having fun!
So, 93.3 FLZ was your first radio job?
When I was 18, I knew I wanted to be in radio so I quickly got an internship at my favorite station in Jacksonville at 97.9 KISS FM. I was first hired by Rooster Country radio but moved over to KISS FM shortly after.
What other jobs have you had besides radio?
I started at 18 years old, so career-wise I've never known anything else. Although, I've worked my fair share of serving jobs to put myself through school. I used to serve at Outback for a few years, Maggianos, Applebees. I remember working three jobs at the same time just to put myself through school.
We know from listening to the MJ Morning Show that you love entertainment news. So, is there anyone you're dying to interview?
I should probably say someone inspirational like the president, but if you want me to be honest I'd love to interview Tiger Woods and Tim Tebow.
Did you really get $500,000 from Tiger Woods to keep your mouth shut?
No, of course not! That was only to get his attention and it worked.
What would you say is your biggest weakness (food, men, shopping, etc.)?
All three of those are my weaknesses but if I had to pick one thing it would have to be very tall stilettos! They are the sexiest thing in the world to me and they can also be used as handle bars (lol).
We're sure you've gotten a lot of interest from your male fans. What's the worst pick-up line you've ever heard?
I'll never forget when I was grocery shopping and a guy stopped me in the middle of the store to say, 'Yo Baby, you be my Dairy Queen, I'll be your Burger King, you treat me right, and I'll do it your way, right away.' I just stared in amazement.
Do you have a signature drink you order when you're out?
A Skinny Wedding Cake Martini. The 'Skinny' makes it have less calories which means I can drink more liquor. A win-win for me!
What's your favorite night club in Tampa Bay?
I love going out everywhere in Tampa but one of my favorite spots is The Venue.
...and your favorite restaurant ?
There are so many delicious places to go. This weekend I have reservations at Ocean's Prime and Bern's but I hear Taco Bus is pretty amazing off of Hillsborough Ave.
What's your favorite movie of all time?
I LOVE Risky Business, Animal House and Alfred Hitchcock movies.
What's the best event you've ever been to?
I love going to huge concerts! 98 Rockfest is amazing and of course 93.3 FLZ's Jingle Ball.
Is there anything in 2011 that you want to accomplish?
I would like to start my own show on 93.3 FLZ during the weekends and maybe get into television. I feel I have a lot to offer that doesn't get explored on the morning show sometimes.
You were rated one of the top "50 hottest women of radio" this year. How does it feel to make the list for number three?
Honored! I was completely shocked! I feel blessed that I've moved up on the list like I have... There are so many beautiful women on the list. I am just thankful to be on it.
