That was the concept from the beginning. Make it simple and do it right. Starting outside the Washington D.C. area, Five Guys tried to go against the norm in the area of convoluted politics and complication and make the best possible burger by keeping it simple.
The decor is as simple as the concept. It is not looking to win any interior decorating awards, but has won many awards for the food, including best burger in almost every market they are in.
