Just Perfect!

Probably one of the best Italian restaurants in the South Tampa area for 3 reasons - the atmosphere, the food, and the price/specials. The inside of the restaurant is separated into two floors - the bottom level, which is more family-oriented and quiet, and the upper level, which has a social scene/upscale pub vibe going on. Both floors are warm and inviting, and although I go in to CDB's for a "nice" dinner, I can still dress comfortably in jeans. That's the beauty of this place. Whether it is a client dinner, or a romantic night out, or simply a get together of friends to munch appetizers at the bar, CDB's handles their ambiance to cater to all. Now, the food is traditional Southern Italian cuisine with a strong knowledge of the classics, such as lasagna, parmiganas, and casseroles. I like their twist, however, with their daily specials (some that are as cheap as $8.99) which incorporate the freshest from Florida, like conch and grouper. The wine selection is very nice, with varietals that are not often seen in an Italian restaurant. Lastly, the price is right. Most meals are under $15 and are large in portion. Coupons can always be found in the Valpacks and during the week, many dishes are made even less expensive. In an unassuming corner on So. Westshore, CDB's Southside gives a boring stretch of road a needed boost of unpretentious but upscale nightlife.

Amazing experience

From the look of CDB's from the outside, I expected a bustling sports bar. Once I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by the romantic ambiance of the place. The tables all had white tablecloths and candles on them. And the lighting was dim and romantic. The food was DELICIOUS! I recommend the pizza. Plus, the portions were pretty big. The service was quick and friendly. And the price was very reasonable. I never thought of CDB's as a good place to go on a date or take the family, but now after experiencing it, I would definitely bring family and friends back for an awesome dinner.
