Barbecue and fine dining might make as much sense together as eating ribs with gloves on, but where there’s Smoke – North Hyde Park’s barbecue hotspot – there’s ingenious fire. Owner Gordon C. Davis, a revered Tampa restaurateur known for establishing Ceviche, has created a “world barbecue concept” that takes influences from southern and Texas barbecue styles, as well as Canadian, Mediterranean and Asian cuisines. He and his smoking, char-grilling and rotisserie-ing team (including Chef Rick Knapik of Mise En Place fame) present a menu filled with surf-n-turf and veggies that ignite the palate and satisfy hearty appetites.
