Tavern at Bayboro
A Gaven Benson Venue
- USF St. Petersburg campus
- 121 7th Ave. S.
- St. Petersburg, FL 33701
- 727-821-1418
- Price range: $ (Under $9)
A St. Petersburg institution for over 25 years, the Tavern offers custom order hot and cold deli sandwiches, a vegetarian menu, homemade soups and meat and vegetarian chilis and a great selection of imported and domestic beers, including microbrews from the Dunedin Brewery.
Staffers Kris and Bonnie have worked there from day one. Over the years the Tavern has hosted bands of almost every musical genre, and is proud of having had Swedish blues sensation Vidar Busk and The True Believers perform almost every time they tour the U.S. as well as other blues artists from Scandinavia and Switzerland. The local bands are no slouch, either, many call the Tampa area home when not touring. Not bad for a small outdoor/indoor beer and wine joint.
Friday evenings are family-orientated in a traditional European atmosphere when many local college professors, professionals, blue collar workers and others bring the spouses and children for a large extended family-style get-together.
The Tavern offes a great beer selection featuring a beer of the month. Open mike jams happen every Wednesday night. Live bands perform rock, blues, reggae, jazz, etc. on Thursday nights and Friday evenings are reserved for acoustic acts.
