Tech gifts you'll need to stay in the game
Fall is the season of apples, falling leaves and techie toys. Some of the newest and hottest tech gadgets are on the shelves now (or will be very soon), so we got the tech experts at the Best Buy on Kirkwood Highway to give us the rundown on the must-have tech toys this season. (Thanks Best Buy peeps!)
So without further ado, here are our picks for 10+ tech gifts!
1. Ceiva digital picture frame
You can thank us for giving you the perfect idea for a Christmas gift for your parents. (Or Hanukkah gift. Or Kwanzaa. Or Festivus. Or an I'm-Sorry-I-Never-Call Gift. Or a Yes-You'll-Get-Grandchildren-Someday-But-Not-Anytime-Soon-So-Just-Stop-Asking gift.)
This looks like just a regular digital picture frame, sure. But, the recipient never has to upload the photos. (Great for the not-so-tech-savvy people you know and love.) You can do that from home, just by sending an e-mail to the address that comes with the frame.
The frame connects to the Internet, checks its special e-mail address for photos, and voila! The pics instantly go into the frame. So every morning when your far-away loved one wakes up, there can be new photos on the frame. Genius.
It comes with the ability to dial-up for free, but if the person you're giving it to has either wireless or broadband Internet, you'll need to get them an adapter. A wireless adapter is $34.95, a broadband one is $24.95. With those adapters, you can set it to check for new photos as often as every hour.
Cost: $129.99 for the frame, then $24.95-$34.95 for the adapter, and a subscription service that is $99.95 for the year, or $9.95 a month. (Even if you have wireless or broadband, you still have to pay that subscription service.)
