If you like…”Moonlight” (CBS)
Most spin-offs fall to pieces after straying too far from the nest, some manage to tread water for a while and a chosen few are able to completely redefine a character and earn their own identity. “Angel” did the latter. Throughout its five seasons, “Angel” took a much darker approach to the supernatural world that “Buffy” lived in while giving star David Boreanaz the opportunity to step out of that heartbreaker role and treat us to his odd sense of comedic timing. The first season may be a rough start, but those cliffhangers will have you checking your queue with the overzealousness of a meth addict.
Hmm…doesn’t sound familiar. TV certainly doesn’t have any current shows about broody Vampire detectives in Los Angeles. (And yes—we’re looking at you, you bad knock-off “Moonlight.”)
