Buffy the Vampire Slayer
If you like…”Bionic Woman” (NBC)
What can be said about “Buffy” that hasn’t been said already? She bended genres, she courted critics, she shunned the mainstream and she garnered a fan community unlike anything TV has ever seen. But more than anything, it was a wildly entertaining show. If you can make it past the seriously dated hairdos and high camp of the first season, you’ll be hoping the strike will drag on until you finish every last one of the 144 perfect episodes. (You know, except that one.)
Buffy Summers and Jamie Sommers may have last names and superpowers in common, but that’s pretty much where the similarities end. “Buffy” blew through seven seasons like a juggernaut of pitch-perfect television and, so far, the new “Bionic Woman” has just sort of just plodded along. Perhaps the writers over at “BW” might want to catch up on their WB “Buffy” DVDs in the picket line.
