Stuff to do in Pinellas
Don't cross that bridge. There's plenty to do in Pinellas! Check out my picks for stuff to do within St. Pete, the beaches and Clearwater.

1
Tropicana Field -
One Tropicana Drive - St. Petersburg
Report this commentThe Rays are having a bang-up season! Park your butt in those seats and root, root, root for the home team (and by home team, I DON'T MEAN THE YANKEES). Check out the dollar hot dog nights -- an economical way to stuff your face at the ballpark.

Siam Garden -
3125 9th St. N - St. Petersburg
Report this commentOut of the plethora of Thai places in Pinellas County (St. Pete especially), this one stands out above the rest. Lunch specials are cheap (around $6) and dinner's not too expensive, either. Their spring rolls are some of the best I've had out of any Asian restaurant.

St. Pete Beach -
St. Pete Beach
Report this commentMy favorite beach spot in Pinellas. It's not too touristy (unlike Clearwater Beach), so you can get a primo spot on the sand without falling over rambunctious kids or people sprawled out on beach blankets. Sometimes you can see stingrays (don't worry, they swim away).

St. Petersburg Pier -
800 Second Ave. N.E. - St. Petersburg
Report this commentI love the waterfront views from The Pier. This is where I go to chill out and watch the boats go by and the pelicans grovel for fish.

The Independent -
29 3rd St. N. - St. Petersburg
Report this commentLamenting the choices at most bars? Does the thought of having to swig a Miller Lite get your goat? When you see the word "imported" on a menu and see it's nothing but Corona and Harp, does it make you see red? Relax. This bar in downtown St. Pete's here to save you. It's popular (and rightly so), so it can get pretty crowded at times. Try to grab a seat outside and watch St. Pete's nightlife, which gets more interesting by the week.

World of Beer -
2809 Gulf To Bay Blvd. - Clearwater
Report this commentGet your beer on at home with brewskis from World of Beer. They have one of the best selections in the area, hands-down. Especially awesome if you hate the typical bar atmosphere (and bar selections, and bar prices).

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse -
3800 Park Blvd. - Pinellas Park
Report this commentUsually I would feel bad about putting a chain restaurant on one of my picks lists. Not this one. I love the ginormous TV behind the bar, as well as their beer selection. Oh yeah, and the food's pretty good too. I like coming here for dinner when the game's on (football or baseball).

Raga Indian Restaurant -
16080 US 19 - Clearwater
Report this commentThis place is the best Indian I've had outside of my native Richmond, VA, which has a burgeoning Indian population. This isn't sloppy Americanized Indian, which often tastes disgusting (there's only two kinds of Indian; very good and extremely abysmal) and looks just as appetizing. This is the real deal, with the spice to match!

Muvico Baywalk IMAX -
151 2nd Ave North St. - Saint Petersburg
Report this commentBest theater in Pinellas. It's not completely overrun with ridiculously-dressed teenagers the way Park Place Stadium (Pinellas Park) is, and it's not...questionable and dingy like some of the other theaters in the county. It's even got a playroom with babysitting, so there's no excuse for you to bring your five-year old kid to an R-rated movie like Superbad (saw it in action at Park Place Stadium; they walked out after the first ten minutes).

Biff Burger -
3939 49th St. N. - St. Petersburg
Report this commentThis place is near my house. I've had a problem with places around here not knowing how to cook a medium burger (I'm TALKING TO YOU BENNIGANS), but these guys do it right. Each burger is cooked-to-order and I dig the retro exterior. They also have a cigarette machine (empty of course) which I haven't seen since the late '90s.
