Bars with Better Beer

Don't settle for Miller Lite, Bud Light and Corona any longer. You deserve better. Here's a few bars worth checking out.

    The Independent

    The Independent - 4

    29 3rd St. N. - St. Petersburg

It's one of the best bars in St. Pete. The beer selection is top-notch. It's not a party bar, however it can get loud and crowded on the weekends. Try to grab one of the seats outside if you can. St. Pete's nightlife gets more interesting by the night.

    World of Beer

    World of Beer - 4

9524 West Linebaugh Ave. - Tampa (Westchase)

As soon as you walk in, you can see a plethora of bottled offerings in wall coolers. There's more on tap, too. In case you're overwhelmed by all the choices (there's hundreds to choose from), the bartenders know their stuff. There's a full-length beer menu, too. It gets packed on certain nights, especially when there's live music.

    Oldsmar Tap House - 5

    300 State St. E. - Oldsmar

This is a conversationalist's bar. There's no TV, no distractions, just beer, you, and perhaps some friends. There's roughly thirty beers on tap and more in bottles, so there's no shortage of drink here. Oh yeah, and no Bud or Coors.

    Yeoman's Road Pub

    Yeoman's Road Pub - 4 1/2

236 E. Davis Blvd. - Tampa (Davis Islands)

If I lived in south Tampa, I'd go here every weekend. This bar isn't crowded, it's dark, and it's got plenty of beer, including one of my favorites, Delirium Tremens, on tap. It's got a personality. Some of the bands are laughable, but hey, you're buzzin', right?
